How Is Arm Lift Surgery Performed?
In most cases, your upper arm surgery will be performed in an outpatient facility, except in cases where several plastic surgeries are being performed simultaneously. An upper arm lift can be combined with other surgeries (usually completed at a facility with inpatient monitoring), such as tummy tucks, mommy makeovers, and thigh lifts — as long as Dr. Mays considers it safe. An upper arm lift is usually conducted with the patient under general anesthesia and can take a few hours to finish. The unwanted skin will be excised from the elbow all the way up to the underarm. The incision will be made as inconspicuously as possible, although it will leave a visible scar. If liposuction is desired to remove stubborn fat, it will also be performed. After the skin is pulled taut, it will be sutured together. After being discharged, you must keep the incisions cleaned, covered, and wrapped with compression garments.
