How Does Vaginal Rejuvenation Work?
Surgical Vaginal Rejuvenation
The vaginoplasty procedure removes the excess vaginal lining and tightens the surrounding soft tissues and muscles. The surgery will begin with Dr. Mays placing incisions in discreet locations around the vagina, gently tightening the muscle tissue beneath the skin. In addition, the vaginal opening is then reduced in size by removing some of the vaginal lining (mucosa). If you combine your vaginoplasty with a labiaplasty, our expert team will perform that surgery immediately following the vaginoplasty. At the end of the procedure(s), Dr. Mays will carefully suture the incisions for optimal results and minimal scarring.
Labiaplasty is typically done with a trim technique or posterior wedge to remove extra tissue followed by surgical closure with dissolvable sutures. Your surgical plan will be detailed and customized with specific techniques to meet your needs.
Nonsurgical Vaginal Rejuvenation
Laser vaginal rejuvenation is performed in one of our private treatment rooms and only takes about 30 minutes to complete. The laser device's energy stimulates collagen growth, strengthening the vaginal walls while promoting resiliency and elasticity and enhancing sensation and function. There is generally no downtime associated with this procedure, allowing most women to go about their day following treatment. For optimal results, Dr. Mays may recommend a series of treatment sessions at one-month intervals. He may also suggest annual touch-ups and follow-up treatments to preserve the vaginal rejuvenation results.
